A Packaged Bank Account (PBA) also known as paid bank accounts and bundle bank accounts that come with a range of benefits such as travel insurance, mobile insurance and car breakdown cover. Recent investigations into the Packaged Bank Accounts market have revealed that these types of accounts don’t always offer the best value of money and with an increase of packaged bank account complaints on the increase it could be the next mis-selling scandal.
When Natwest sold customers a Packaged Bank Account (PBA) it was their responsibility to ensure that all the benefits sold with the account were right for them.
If any of the above statements apply to you then you could have a mis-sold packaged bank account complaint then next step is to find evidence that you have paid for a packaged bank account and that it was mis-sold. If you’re unsure if you’ve got a packaged bank account then you can check by looking through your statements to find the name of the account.
NatWest have sold a range of Packaged Bank Accounts over the years. Here is a list of some of the paid for accounts that they have sold:
£10.00 a Month
£16.00 a Month

Pamela Taylor knew that she had a packaged bank account but didn’t realise that she was paying for it.
“I knew that I’d got a packaged bank account from a loan I took out years ago but didn’t realise I was paying for it as NatWest failed to explain the costs to me. After reading an article in the Daily Mail about packaged bank accounts I realised that I was being charged and cancelled the account straight away.”
Pamela couldn’t use any of the benefits of the account as she has never driven, her health prevented her from traveling and her phone cost less than one month’s packaged account fee, so it wasn’t worth insuring.
“All advice says go in to your bank and demand your money back but that’s easier said than done. The bank told me at first that I’d not had a packaged bank account and that’s when I decided to speak to Crystal Legal Services as I didn’t want the hassle”.
“The process with Crystal Legal was straight forward, once I’d signed the paperwork I left it in their hands and put it out of my mind until I received a letter to say that I’d won nearly £1,000 in compensation”
NatWest rejected the claim initially but Crystal Legal Services raised the complaint immediately with The Financial Ombudsman who’s involvement overturned the banks decision in favour of Pamela. The initial rejection by NatWest delayed the case unnecessarily for 6 months.
“ I want to thank everyone at Crystal Legal Services, I couldn’t of coped with the hassle on my own.”
