Recent investigations into the Packaged Bank Accounts market have revealed that these types of accounts don’t always offer the best value of money and with an increase of packaged bank account complaints on the increase it could be the next mis-selling scandal. When HSBC sold customers a Packaged Bank Account (PBA) it was their responsibility to ensure that all the benefits sold with the account were right for them.

  • The reasons why HSBC might have mis-sold you your packaged bank account:
  • HSBC told you that you had to have a packaged bank account. E.g. in order to get a loan, credit card or mortgage.
  • You were too old for the insurance policies and HSBC did not make you aware.
  • A pushy HSBC salesman pressurised you into taking out the account and didn’t feel that you could say no.
  • HSBC increase the price of the packaged bank account without informing you.
  • HSBC ‘upgraded’ you to a paid account without your knowledge.
  • HSBC did not explain the exclusions of the insurance policies. E.g. You did not know that you need to register your mobile phone/car.
